Hi, I owned a toyota estima year 2004, 3.0 Aeras Estima T (G edition) V6 3000 four cam 24 VVT-i engine (MCR40) 1MZ-FE. MY car is lock into 4WD and I can't disengaged it. Brought to many mechanic but they all could not help me disengaged the 4WD> some of the mechanic even ask me to change the whole Rear Diff which I think is not that issue. I did a dignostic test and the error shown is "Fault Code C1298 - Linear Solenoid". I tried to clear the error but it will not work. Been trying to ask so many people for help on this matter. Hope someone here can help me out and let me know what I need to do and how can I disengaged this 4WD. Thanks

If it's actually "locked" then I presume it must be something to do with the electro-magnetic coupling that's just in front of the rear diff.? (I'm no engineer)

The Active Torque Control system (AWD) is largely "automatic" and should unlock/disengage when a speed of 40kph is reached.?

Could it simply be a faulty switch.?....maybe it's showing you are in 4WD when you actually aren't.?

Failing that I can only suggest you get that electro coupling investigated.
