2005 RAV4 Central vents and upgrading head unit

Hi All, first post so a quick hello and a question to start the ball rolling.

I am a Brit living in Crete and recently purchased a 2005 RAV4 petrol automatic. So far happy with the car but I will be going through it after a couple of weeks to see what fault codes come up and how it runs generally. In the meantime I am looking to upgraded the head unit to a double DIN Android model. However, this is where the fun begins. Most of the models I see have the four bolt fascia and mine is the smooth two side panels version.  Any suggestions how best to address this issue? I suspect I need to buy a double din and then use the existing fascia rather than buy one of the 4 bolt versions. Piccies attached by way of explanation. Mine is the top one.

I was wondering if they are also interchangeable but I guess I would need to replace a lot more than just the vent fascia

I almost certainly can't help much, but the first thing to determine is whether you have a late 4.2 (2001 - 2005) or an early 4.3 (2005 - 2013) ...

I suspected this might be the case, my understanding is that the fitting is pretty easy. Just use the old brackets and try and get something the right width and height. (surprising amount of variety for a standard :D)

Double din is a standard, Avoid the no name Chinese junk, if you want AA or AC look at pioneer

As for fitting, you just need the 2 side trims

With USB and AUX in

Yes, I used Connect 2 for my Audi TSS when I upgraded the stock ICE. Nice to know they are still around and doing well.
