Help with centre roof console please

Hi, I wonder if someone can help me please?

I have recently bought a mk1 t spirit 2 Ltr diesel Auris, 07 plates, and it didn't come with a manual so I found and downloaded this one: 269037979_2012Aurisownersmanual.pdf.

In the roof centre console there is a panel between the driver and passenger lights. The manual says this is an auxiliary box but mine doesn't open. Instead, at the windscreen end, there is a button with a symbol of a car with what looks like waves radiating down from the roof. The manual makes no reference to this button at all. 

Can anyone tell me what it does please?

I know the obvious thing would be to press it but knowing my luck it would be an immobiliser or alarm or something and I wouldn't then be able to turn off 😂

Think it will turn off the interior sensors for the alarm. Useful if you leave a pet in the car.
