Driver side windows controller fused?

Hi All,

I have a 2010 Toyota Avensis 2.0d4d estate. I was trying to repair 1 of the buttons on the driver side window controller and in the process, I believe I have blown the fuse as all of the buttons have stoped functioning any of the windows. Could anyone please guide me where the fuse is located for this?

Thanks

First of all, have you checked the owners manual that should have come with the car? It covers everything including the fuses.

The next thing is make sure you have not accidently press the power window lock switch, that disables the other windows.

The 3 passenger power window fuses are located under the dashboard.

The drivers power window fuse is located in a seperate under dashboard fusebox.

There a coiple of locations for the fuses - in the engine compartment and under the dashboard behind the glovebox.

I already down loaded the owners manual from https://www.toyota.co.uk/tme#/my-toyota/eManual

Thank you soo much for constructive guidance. I did just look under the driver side dash and could not see any fuses but under passenger side I did which was nothing about windows. You mind advising me further on this please?

Before I try and give you any  more help, what have you done so far and did you check the fuses as detailed in my earlier reply?

All the fuses are on the left hand side of the car. So the any reference to driver may refer to lefthand drive cars. You don't need to remove the glove box to access the passenger compartment fusebox. Just go under and look further back, unclip the cover to exposed the fuse box, as shown in my photos. 20220311_122552.thumb.jpg.5c2377ce8df16c66e321a23742500b75.jpg20220311_122538.thumb.jpg.fef22bb2cc504bd34ff8e7c4aae06140.jpg20220311_122603.thumb.jpg.2f6b86fd9d59ec8782bada896f21d5d9.jpg

Also do you have the owners manual, that I mentioned before? This includes pressing the window lock switch that stops the passenger windows from working.

Look at what I posted previously and see if you missed anything.

Hi Konrad,

Sorry for late reply.

All above has been checked from Mechanic and window lock switch is unlocked. A meter was also used and it worked perfectly fine that. Therefore, it could only be the the whole driver side window switch controller that may be faulty so I ordered a replacement BUT that also has not solved the problem 😔. Now I am without the use of windows.

Any help will be much appreciated.

You need to get proper diagnostics done. Toyota Techstream is good or any pro level diagnostic equipment and software. Techstream can communicate with the window functions, then report the actual issue. I was thinking of a relay or the delay system that stops the window from working, 30 seconds after the ignition has been turned off. That is why I mentioned diagnostics.

I assume the mechanic did a bypass to get the window to work. I did this for my brothers Renault Grand Scenic when sorting his windows. In that case it was the temec switch as Renault calls it. Toyota is different and the fault could be anywhere! You need to find a good auto electrician or a Toyota specialist, which should be cheaper than going to a Toyota dealer.

Techstream will not get you far

the window's power is directly fed to the motor, the switch is a low current control circuit

each door has its own 20 amp fuses 26, 27, 28 the drivers door has a 30 amp (No.3 square fuse on the front of the internal fuse box - accessed from behind the glovebox), power to the switch is the 10 amp ECU B2 (no. 5 in the under bonnet fuse box)

https://fuse-box.info/toyota/toyota-avensis-t27-t270-2009-2018-fuses-and-relay

do none of the windows work or is it just the drivers side that is not working ?

None of the windows work from the driver side controller switch. They work as normal from there own side but nothing working for the driver window.

ok check that 10 amp fuse under the bonnet, check the switch is getting 12v if it is not you need to do a resistance/continuity test of the wiring from the switch connector to the connector in the driver's footwell, I suspect you have a broken wire in the rubber boot between the body and the door

you could try pressing the passenger window button on the driver's door and moving the rubber boot about - key on, engine off

I found a Mechanic who was very talented with electrics so he short wired it to one of the wires in the door opening.
