I’m having problems with knocking noises on my steering rack and found out VERY expensive to replace, but just found a mechanic that’s says you DON’T Have to remove it you can repair it in the car so it won’t be a 10 hour job or £900 new rack so later in the year when my MOT is due I will look into the total costs. So if you know a very good mechanic ask if he can do this job in the car. When learn more will update this post.

I was told the same by a mechanic so I asked him to do it he checked and said it was the inner rods in the rack and replaced them and the track rod end’s didn’t solve the knocking noise and said it’s a try and error to find which is the problem it has cost me £340 and not solved. So can you give me the mechanics contact details so I can talk to him please I’m disabled and need to keep my rav 4 as it’s perfect for my needs.
