Looking for a manual transmission for a 1984 Tercel SR5 wagon. I need help!

Hey folks. I’m actually on the West coast of the United States, but I’m at my wits end trying to source parts for my car. It was gifted to me by a family friend in December, but the transmission needs work, and auto shops won’t even touch it without a replacement transmission to harvest parts from.

It’s a 1984 Toyota Tercel SR5 4x4 wagon. 5-speed manual transmission.

Surely there are some still sitting around in some garage somewhere in the Continental US, but I’m not particularly knowledgeable about cars in the first place, let alone where to hunt down parts on Reddit.

I LOVE this car, and want to get it back on the road. Any help or suggestions would be profoundly appreciated. Thanks!

the gearbox is in 2 parts, the 5 speed box and the transfer case/bell housing

1984 is also a changeover year for the gearbox (Z45, Z46, Z53 or Z54F)
