Do puddle lights illuminate for exiting car?

Hi, are the puddle/mirror lights supposed to light up when you open the door to exit the car?  Ours don't ☹️

They work when unlocking the car before you get in, just not when you’re about to get out and might want to see if you’re about to step into a puddle.  Seems strange 🤔

Seems strange. My Prius puddle lights do and they now have LED bulbs in so nice and bright.  Have they never come on?

Sorry I don't know, we’ve only recently got the car, and only noticed the issue last night.

Ah right.  I have never known a switch for these on any car I had with them. Unless someone saw it as a Battery drain and took bulbs out. They can, of course, be a drain when, for example, you wash the car and leave doors open to help dry out door faces etc.

Only noticed ours come on when unlocking the car,

That seems very strange, our new Aygo does not have them but the CRV we had before did and they always came on as you opened the door after dark so, as you quite rightly say, you can see if you are stepping into a puddle, or worse.

On any other cars we’ve had they come on as you exit the car too.  It looks like it might be a trait of the CH-R since @JillG's is the same.  Sort of defeats the purpose of them tho 🤔

Mine have never come on when exiting the car. I do have my mirrors on auto retract though when locking car. Not sure if that makes any difference.

Mine will illuminate on approaching car - along with interior lights ( if fob is detected ). This can be switched on/off.

Never seen a setting for them to come on on exiting - other than interior lights when vehicle is switched off.

Turn on exterior footlight when doors unlocked via remote

Off / 7 seconds / 15 seconds / 30 seconds

Worth a try. See if they come on when “Coming home” function is activated also.
