Toyota Yaris mk1 d4d whistling noise.

Hearing a whistling noise coming from engine turbio when being revved.

Checked the intercooler and found a moderate amount of oil inside the throttle body.

Does this mean I require a new turbo or can it be fixed?

I think the slight oil in the big turbo pipe is normal - I found the same thing in both of mine when I pulled the throttle unit off to clean a soot blockage.

Whistling could be an incorrectly fitted air filter (My 2nd Mk1 D4D had a very noticeable turbo whine - Turned out the previous owner had somehow put the air filter in wrong so it wasn't sealing properly. Don't know how they did it since the air filter is keyed to only go in one way!!).

Could also be a loose or split turbo hose somewhere.
