Real world mpg for hybrid RAV4?

Hi

I've just had a test drive in a (UK) hybrid RAV4 from 2018.

I liked it, but was concerned that even with gentle driving, I struggled to get much over 30mpg. Official figures suggest 55 or so... I know that these are always "optimistic" but even so, 30ish seems poor.

So, if you own one, what do you get out of it?

Thanks a lot

Andrew

Had my HEV AWD-I for a week very low mileage 20 mile motorway run and the rest local showing 48 mpg has only done 165 miles.

Happy so far. when I picked it up it had 10 miles on it at 16 mpg, my mileage above  includes this.

The OP appears to be asking about the previous generation Rav4 - not the current generation.

The previous generation is less economical than the current generation. My 2016 Excel AWD averaged 41.3 mpg over my 3 years of ownership covering about 20,000 miles. Naturally the figures varied with the weather and the type of driving but keeping a spreadsheet of the overall performance gives a reasonable figure I feel.

If you want a comparison with the current generation, over 12 months and 7000 miles my 2019 Excel AWD has averaged 49.6 mpg but then with Covid I haven't done as many high speed motorway runs as I might normally.

Hope this helps.
