Hi I’ve been getting a dpf fault coming up and going off after a couple of days fuel usage goes up when it’s on sometimes a little loss of power and it’s been for a few months now the local garage has changed a couple of sensors and it’s still coming up now there saying it’s the swirl flap and something else to the right of the manifold needs to take the manifold off to clean it out

I drive a 2.0 estate d4d tourer 17 plate do you think this is the problem or I’m I being ripped off

No experience of this myself but, I just bought my second Avensis, a 2.0 T27 (2016) and I have been researching this as, I see diesels around this age, do need a DPF clean.

I had a 55 mile journey back from the dealer, on the M25 and M1 so, I hope that I got an active DPF regen during that.  As I understand it, this involves taking a bit of a journey at above 40 MPH to, get the exhaust gases to a high enough temperature that a DPF regen is activated.  If you are only a town driver, you might have to do this every few months.

There are also fuel additives for DPF cleaning.  However, I am still researching these through, watching YouTube videos and reviews.

So, without any experienced members responses, a run *may* help.  The fact that the light goes out and is not permanent suggests that, it is not close to Engine Management is not going to go into limp mode.  A flashing yellow warning is, just a warning and no immediate concern.

Are you being ripped off? I thought a garage would do a DPF clean and possibly the Manifold if, there were no diagnostic codes pointing to a sensor or, mechanical fault.  Without a diagnostic tool, they could be working blind or, ripping you off.
