Hi all,
My name is mils and I literally just drove home a Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid.
Finally, after 8 months of order, it finally arrived in Perth, Western Australia
So so happy. It's the most advance car I've ever driven. Very impressed.

Can you point me to the right direction where I can see what kind of (engine/electrical) mods can be done to this car?

Mils, before you jump in with both feet, make sure you learn about what it can do first.

First step is read the book.  Second step is read the online manual which I guess it is at least twice the size.

You will find a fair number of options that allow you to configure how it works.  Some are user controlled, others are dealer controlled.

Roy is right Mils, learn all you can about your car, and remember mods can invalidate your warranty 😡. Anyway perfection can’t be improved on 🤣😂👏

Hi,

Thank you for the welcome and heck yeah I’m 1/4 way of the manual already.

I understand that mods can invalidate warranty. I just want to learn what’s out there and what’s available for the owner/dealer/mods.

Gonna keep on reading.

Mils, if that is the hard copy there is at least 3/4 to go.

Not heard of any engine mods, more a question of learning how best to use it. As for electrical, forget it, it's electronics today.

A good YouTube source is The Car Care Nut.  I have watched a lot of his Corolla vids.  Don't know if he covers Yaris but there will be lots of read across as systems will be similar.

Just had a look at my Corolla manual.  Look for Customization probably section 9 and about page 640 odd.

Hi Mils. Welcome. You've got a lot of bedtime reading to do. Then, it's time to figure out how everything works and then read the manuals again 😀

You’re right. I finished reading a certain part. And then drove the car for a day and re-read it again to fully understand haha

Mils, then there is a question of remembering.  Having set up the controls - lights, washers, options, displays etc - if someone alters them, or you change environment (day/night or wet/dry, even time zone) say a couple of times a year, then it can throw you.

Or you suddenly get a strange warning light, a WTF moment.

Did you find the customization section?

Have fun.

Customisation, I found some of them. Things like: if go out of lane, should it beep or vibrate the wheel. Or if it should be km/L or L/100km.
Im sure there are lots more.

What are some of your favourite customisations?

So far on my (non-Cross) Yaris it was changing the wheels from 17" to 15"

The cars are new enough there aren't loads of mods for them yet (Except for the GR Yaris which has just gone crazy!)

One thing I want to do is source some gas struts for the bonnet as friggin' hate the bonnet-mounted stand! If it was mounted on the side of the engine bay like a normal car I'd not mind but it's right over the middle of the top of the engine - I burnt my fingers on it the other day!

(If anyone knows of any let me know!)
