Auris Hybrid Door Switch Courtesy Light intermittent fault and how to fix it

Hi everyone,

been having some intermittent fault with my courtesy lights, when front passenger door is open the lights does not come ON always, although the switch on the roof lining is at correct settings. Sometimes when I open the door and lights not coming ON, I do press manual the switch mounted on the door shut and the lights work. I have taken out the switch , removed the rubber sleeve and there is one tiny whole that you can see a spring loaded mechanism , sprayed few shots of wd-40 silicone spray there and pushed the trigger few times in, wiped any excess spray, rubber boot back on and fitted to the door shut. Last night few times checked and it was working fine. If anyone has similar issues can try this fix too, all you need is torx T30, wd-40 silicone spray, and note that the plug has a very short cable and can easily go inside the car and then will be a nightmare to take it out, so be careful when disconnecting. 👍

Another option is to use an electrical contact cleaner instead of WD-40

That would be better as it doesn't leave any residue, but WD40 works in a pinch!

You are right guys about contact cleaner spray instead, however the whole mechanism is covered in white grease as it needs lube, with wd-40 silicone spray there is no need of applying grease, where if I had to use contact cleaner I should have apply some grease, honestly I had that spray handy and all others in the garage ,a  bit lazy lately 😂👍

Thanks for adding up helpful information 👌
