Yeah the carina engine. the engines look identical so i was thinking of using the starlet box if it fits (that would be fun). the engines are that identical i think i can use the starlet loom and carina ecu. i'm looking into it all

Why would you fit that engine in your car?!? Why not op for a 4AGE weather it be silver/black top they will perform better then that engine.

I don't know if it'll direct fit tho, but if it doesnt since you have to do custom work to make it fit, your better off goign the 4AGE route since you have to get custom engine mounts and such to fit that engine in.

is that the old mr2 engine. roughly 125 bhp ?

think of the black and silver top versions of the 4A-GE as the sexy 18 yr old daughter of the old MR2 engine.

quad throttle bodies, 5 valves per cylinder and developing around 165 bhp (over 100bhp per litre - not many can do that without a turbo!)

Correct Sera.. I have alot of respect for the 4AGE series. the performance is amazing, torquey machins, with lot of top end. slap on tome TBs on that **** and your moving.

Were do you get these engines ? wots the diffrence (black or silver)

how hard do you rekon it would be to put in the wee starlet ?

thanx

The black top is the most powerful.

The silver top is slightly less powerful.

Usually come in as a front cut.

They could be fitted to a Starlet, but quite a lot of custom work needed, you may well be best going for the 1.3 turbo option that a number of people have done or are going to do...

Unless you like to be a trailblazer...

Thats what i was thinking(everyone wants them)

4age series engines are amazing in every form, they are pretty much racing engines, the atalnatic series in america use the standard 16v models. the Blacktop has lighter internals than the silvertop.

They're are so amazing i've scrapped my idea of turbo charging my 5e, as i will prolly have to pay more just to get about the same power increase.

JB motorsport will import it for you but you've gotta wait about 6-8 weeks for it to get shipped and thats added to about a month of waiting for them to find one, recondition and upgrade bearings (if you pay extra for this to be done).

Im going for the blacktop from a levin front cut, this means getting everything needed, including the c160 6 speed gearbox, axles, powersteering pump, loom, ecu, etc, etc.

(you have to pay extra for this gearbox aswell)

then once you've decided what you want you gotta be prepared to hand over half the money upfront "cough!, £900, cough!"and they get on the case on finding one for you.

in if you dont want to handle the conversion yourself even a toyota garage will do the conversion if you've got a couple of grand to spend

there are also videos on the web of turbocharged fwd corollas with these engines, leaving skylines stunned

but you will have to do a lot of custom work to get it fitted, and i woulda thought putting one in a starlet might need a bit more fabrication than it would to put it in a paseo. but i woulda thought it would fit somehow

Posted

also the silvertop and blacktop both have variable valve timing aswell.

wheres the videos?

get kazaa lite or summin and search for corolla vs skyline , theres one thats about 80 meg, its impressive
