Newbie - looking for some advice...

Hi guys, I am new to the forum, but a member of many other motoring forums.  I am considering buying a 2008/08 (March 2008) Rav 4 2.2 diesel manual.  I understand that this model does NOT have a DPF filter, however, it can suffer from EGR issues associated with short journey use.  Also I understand that this model suffers head gasket failure.  The car has about 128k on the clock and comprehensive service history and shows no evidence of head gasket failure HOWEVER I am nervous about purchasing this car as I have just scrapped my P38 Range Rover with head gasket failure!  I am looking for some advice here as a start - the car is £2k and is in excellent condition, not abused etc and as I say good history.  Should I snog, marry or avoid?  Hopefully marry...

Affected engines were those built up to December 2008. At the time Toyota covered the issue by a goodwill arrangement for 7 years or 111,000 miles whichever occurred first, from date of first registration. The solution if the fault occurred within this period, was to provide new 3/4 engines.

Obviously the arrangement expired a few years ago.

A Toyota dealer may be able to check the service history to see whether the fault occurred with the car in question, and whether the car was repaired by Toyota.
