Touch2 Go update: "content consistency check failed"

I am trying to install the latest Touch 2 Go update (2022 v1). I downloaded the 6.19.0L.zip file, transferred the contents to a USB stick and plugged it in. Everything seemed to be working ok until about 36% of the way through "Package 6 of 7: Navigation" when I got the error 'update of 6.19.OWL has failed: Update content consistency check failed'. Weird thing is that the System info screen shows me with the updated version.

The same thing happened with 6.18 when I tried to install it - I tried recopying the files to the stick, a different stick etc. I thought this time I'd see if anyone else has had the same problem and solved it.

Thanks,
Tony.

The 2 most common causes of things like this are:

 1) The download cut off before it really got to 100%

2) The USB stick was not ejected before being removed and it didn't finish copying

The download was completed and stick was ejected. I discovered that the stick included a log file of the installation and found that one file, Sweden.fbl, was corrupted in the copy from my PC to the stick - the MD5 of the copied file didn't match that in the .md5 file, which I verified by calculating the checksums on both the file on my PC and the one on the usb stick. I've downloaded Teracopy to see if its verify option will detect copy problems and correct them (very slow but 🤞).

Will update with the result after I've tried the stick in my satnav.

I don't understand what 'ready mode' is. Yes, the stick is all of that.

Tony, you start the car and should see a READY light on the dash.  The engine will start and stop as necessary during the installation process.  If you switch off aircon and fan this will reduce the time the ICE runs to top up the hybrid Battery

That you show the updated version suggests it really is restored.  Package 6 might be a non essential element.

I would try first, a fresh copy from you download and try again.  Is that fails do a fresh download and try again.

As above - basically engine started on a normal petrol car

1 push of the button gives you Aux mode (key on, engine off), Foot on the brake and a 2-5 second push or 2 pushes puts it in "Ready" mode - as in Ready to drive

There you go!

Just copy the file over from the known-good one,  eject the stick, plug it in somewhere else and verify the MD5 again and if it checks out should be fine.

If ti doesn't, might be a problem with the USB stick - I've had some that silently corrupt data in the past, and when you verify right after copying it says everything is fine, but when you plug it into another machine it's corrupted!

That's what has happened -ish. It must be getting corrupted as it is read from the USB stick though because when I bring it back to my computer and compute the MD5 checksum, it is still correct. So the log shows an incorrect MD5...

... but the MD5 for the file on the stick shows as valid when I check it.

So, either there's a problem with how the satnav is reading the stick or with how the stick is presenting the data.

Aaaarrrggghhh!!

Another thing that may help is to unpack the files directly to the USB stick rather than unpacking the zip file to the PC and copying the files to the USB stick.

SORTED! It was the USB stick. Used a 32GB, more robust, Lexar one and it worked no problem. Thanks for all the help.
