Hi, suddenly my Samsung galaxy is refusing to reconnect to my 20.reg Aygo.

I have to struggle to get it to pair each time I turn off the ignition.

This has never happened before and I am stumped.

It works with Android auto but that means connecting it with a USB cable, any help appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Just weird this has happened after 2 years? tmrw I need to see if it is doing same with wife's car, that would tell if it is phone or car that's the problem. I could use android auto I suppose but cable is a nuisance

my Apple iPhone was the same, you have to use the cable every time you want to use google maps. I got an adaptor that allows the phone to pair via wifi and it works with google maps without having to plug in the cable.

I just want to play music and answer phone as normal via bluetooth. Will post results with wife's car system

Weird, this happened to me recently as well. I connect both my work (iPhone SE 2021(?)) and personal phone (Samsung Galaxy A50). I use my A50 for Spotify, and my iPhone for calls.

This used to work perfectly, but since last week this has stopped working on my iPhone and the head unit now only connects to  my A50. When I try to reconnect my iPhone it fails. It will work after removing the pairing on both the head unit and the iPhone and then re-pair but it stops working after turning the car off.

Thanks  the only way it is connecting is by deleting pairing and repairing but it then disconnects again when ignition off. Once my wife finishes her shift in daylight I will try it with her car. Might have to go to 02 shop if it persists

It's normal / designed that way.

Wireless Android Auto and Wireless CarPlay are not standard features on many cars, hence the need to use a USB cable.

That's true, I think a lot of US models have them but not many in UK, apparently the phone works wirelessly, its the audio player and maps that require the USB cable going by what I read

As I understand it both CarPlay and Android Auto make an initial bluetooth connection to the car, then if no car WiFi connection is available then all subsequent data transfer (e.g. Google maps or Apple maps) uses the USB connection, but if a wireless connection is available then a WiFi connection is used.

For cars without wireless CarPlay & Android Auto there are some adapters available, including or wireless CarPlay  https://cplay2air.com/ and for wireless Android Auto https://carsifi.com/ (others may be available).
