It's On Its Way

We spoke to the dealer yesterday, the car is on its way! It is somewhere out at sea, heading this way.

When we asked if they open at midnight for the new registrations they said no, but said they would deliver it to us on trade plates the day before.

The problem now is that they say it isn't due to them until the 1st September and we are having reversing sensors fitted. Also there is the pdi to be done.

My question is, where does the container come in and how long does it take to get from there to the dealer? Okay, it's two questions, but they have said they'll try and hurry it up from when it docks. Is this feasible?

I mean, 4 months we've been waiting (nothing compared to our American cousins) but you'd think they would be able to get it to us for the new reg after all this time, wouldn't you? It is a bit of a dampener that we might not now get it on time.

:(

Being as we were quoted 10 to 12 weeks when we ordered it, I didn't think we were being too optimistic, but I guess we were wrong.

At least it's on it way and I can start saving money on fuel!

Not quite the same .. but when I imported my car .. it was ready within a day from Mr T after dropping it off ..

and there is either dock in Southampton or a car depot in North London .. But I'm sure there are mose places out and about.

If the Prius was ordered from an approved dealer it will dock at Royal Portbury Dock, Bristol. It is usually a pretty fast process to get the car from the dock to the dealer. If you have a stock number I could find out some more.

Have you got a delivery estimate for yours, Rickers?

We have picked the number plate and insured ours and I was seriously impressed by the price of the insurance. Must be one of the joys of getting older, I suppose.

Its worth trying More Than. I switched both my wifes insurance and mine to them and saved quite a bit compared to our previous insurer. (I have no connection with More Than - just recommending them!)

We got the call today, the car is here!!!!!!

We are going over on Thursday evening to play with it, bearing in mind it won't be prepped, but we haven't seen the inside of a T-Spirit yet. We have asked for the side rubbing strips to go on as well, that's another ton on top, but having just paid £100 for 3 dents to be taken out of my little Clio then I'm going to take all the help I can get to keep it looking nice.

We got our insurance through direct line, £297 but no free courtesy car (that adds £15 p.a.) Hubby has 9 years no-claims, I have 2 years. It seems a good deal with only £100 excess, Kwik-Fit wanted £250 voluntary and £150 compulsory excess. We have limited it to 8000 per annum driving miles.

This next fortnight is going to drag so much.

Two reasons to post:

1 - Congratulations, boy, girl or T Spirit? :D

2 - Had to get the last word

Will be in the town centre in mine Thurs night. Taking the wife out for a meal. Probably parked near Fat Cats.

I don't know Derby very well (hubby knows it better) but maybe in a couple of weeks we can compare vehicles somewhere?

You 2 don't live too far apart. so a meet is well possible.

I'm hoping to have a chat with braindead at the coming toyota factory tour on the 9-9-2004. why don't you come to that. the entry has now closed but afterwards there will be plenty of time.

I will not bring the prius, as its my dads car, but i ordered it for hin, but bring my gas guzzling Mark II.

maybe see you there.

Well, you never know! We might see if we can get some invites to it, there must be someone who can get us in!

We went to see our new car tonight - it's just beautiful and it smells wonderful.

It isn't prepped or anything, having just come in, but .... wow!

This is going to be the longest 12 days ever.

Derby have a new demonstrator, being as some meanie bought their last one. They have a black T-Spirit just like ours. I was hoping to be unique to the area but what the heck.

We have the manuals to drool over but I want to PLAY !!!!!!!!

Kit car - good one!

No, it's a first of September, new reg car so we can't have it until the day before, but I've asked if I can go and drive their nice new demonstrator beforehand. That way, I can learn the toys in their car and risk any bumps in that one.

I have emailed Steve, he's going to see what he can do, it would be nice to meet up, especially as it's only about 10 miles away.

10 days and counting!

Just had an email this morning and ours is in the dealership on the first of september :thumbsup:

hopefully well pick it up on the friday.

looks like they were on the same boat, jim

we won't be able to go and snif the new car b4hand, as we are picking it up from a dealership in cornwall who gave us a cracking price :) Thanks Ian at parklands.

Hope steve can sort you out, and maybe well meet at the factory tour. though i will come in my Mark II, beacause it will satnd out more then a Prius being the rarer car on UK roads. :bye::ph34r: :P

maybe see you there

You're driving all the way up here for a 09:30 tour? Flipping 'eck, that's keen!

(It's Lyn btw, who writes on here, Jim's at work)

How far do you have to go to get your new car?

8 days and counting

I've just had an email from Steve saying we can get on the tour so we'll see you then! Although the email does say 9pm meet.

HI you all ,just a quick update, spoke to EST grant people and sorted possible problem for grant out, so that is now sorted.

also been hunting for insurance and came across a £252 quote from direct line. bearing in mind this is for my dad and he is 72, and me as named driver.

one company insisted on doing a credit check. need less to say i told them to get 'checked' themselves - wnakers.

hope to see you all at the TFT on the 9th.

got the times confirmed by steve (thanks) 9.00 at gate, 9.30 entry. turn up late and forget about it.

Looks like an early start for me then ,as it takes me about three hours to get there (hopefully)
