Speed Limited?

I was out last night with a mate, and we were past by another mate in an Audi TT. I changed down and gave it the berries. My speedo is a 100mph version (shorly to be swapped out, courtesy of Mr Bibbs  ) and was reading around 85 when we started chasing.

I got to the point where the needle was off the scale (the car was still accelerating at this time) and it "felt" like we were doing around 125ish when it just stopped accelerating and started stuttering! The speed decreased a little, and it ran fine!

I did a test going the other way up the bypass and it did exactly the same thing, at exactly the same point. The car screams to that point, but won't accelerate any further.

How do I go about removing the speed limiter (as this is clearly limited in some way)?

jap cars (i.e. imports) are restricted to 112mph (or something like this) as they come out of the factory.

They are very easy to have removed, and most tuning garages will be able to do it for you.

It was no more than 112 - no argument mate. Any jap import is restricted to this, because they are ALL restricted to that over there. Its not uncommon for them to be restricted to 110mph either, so you get 2mph more from the mr2!!!

But its dead easy to remove as stated...
