Good day all,

Recently i saw a friend's corolla model 2022 and i noticed that at the screen the roll button on the right side was missing. Why is that. Do they have any major changes from 2021 models? or is just only a button. Oh they also have wireless android auto?

It's a completely new system for 2022 called Smart Connect +. The software is different and there are no longer buttons either side of the screen. Wireless Apple Carplay but wired Android Auto.

Yes, the 2022 system only has the one scroll wheel on the left, no other buttons or wheels around the edge of the screen.

Here is a picture of my 2022 Corolla infotainment:

Yep, it's the same size screen at 8". If you read the Toyota Mag link I posted above, apparently the system has a faster processor so the touchscreen is more responsive.

I've never had any real perceived lag when interacting with the screen, which I hear is a common complaint with the older system.

To be honest never had any issue regarding response on the old system. Ofc i use a box for wireless connectivity.

I have an AA wireless box I used very successfully on my previous Peugeot vehicle for wireless Android Auto, I had it hardwired in to a spare port behind the dash for a neat hidden install - I will have to investigate to see if there's a spare / hidden USB input on the back of the C-HR smart connect unit.

C-HR is the same, just one USB port in dash.

I need to look at the technical info for the Smart Connect system that's fitted first to see how many USB inputs it actually supports / the wiring info.

Here some off topic info:

The screens on Toyota cars are inclined towards passenger not because they were designed for lhd market but to stop screen glare. In USA for example the screens are inclined towards right and it may look for them that cars had been used the design from red (Japanese market). 👍

Hope this make sense now to all people who had wondered why is this  like that. 👌

I don't know the wiring/pinout of the headunit but here is a picture of the back of the 2022 Smart Connect + unit (I'm doing an audio upgrade).

The model number of the unit is: 86100-02310. Reference number is: CN-SS6BE5AE. Made by Panasonic Automotive Systems in the Czech Republic.

The only USB port in the car that works with the head unit is the one in the dash, near the cubby hole in front of the gear lever.

Are you sure you only have one USB? I have another one in the hole under the arm rest, next to the 12V socket. But this one is charging only.

This depends on your specification. The TS has it on all grades, the HB only from Design upwards I believe.
