Toyota yaris diesel 1.4 diagnostic scanner needed

Hi guy wanted to know if anyone knows what diagnostic tool work on a 2003 toyota yaris 1.4 diesel i have bought one but it dosent work on my 2003 yaris but does work on my 09 d4d. Any suggestions on one that works on a 2003 1.4 d4d

most of the cheaper end of the market tools only do can bus, you need a tool that will read K-line and/or OBD1 - diesels never become fully obd2 compliant until 05/06

So the mk1 diesel yaris is basically obd1?

Yes and no, they're in a sort of limbo - ISO 9141 IIRC is K-line 89 to 05/06 still uses the same 16 pin obd2 style plug from around 96/97
