Is there anything worse than messing the gear change up when you are being pursued by a silly little boy racer in his crappy little Escort? :censor: :censor: :censor:

it is a little embarassing but you always have 'lift' to make up for it

Actually there is one thing that is worse than making a dodgy gear change while seeing off a nob in a saxo etc

Loosing to one! Cant be doing with that <_<

You know I was just out for a drive a couple of days ago, pootling along at 30 in a 30 zone,

when this twit in a Polo with three passengers pulls out and overtakes me, and swerves back

in front just in time to avoid an oncoming car. Idiot.

Of course when we got to the derestricted section a few hundred metres later I let it rev up

in second and we cruised past at 8000 on the clock, even though this jester is still accelerating

full pelt! :D

Thing is, I've been driving the Cts for 18 months and now that 2nd -> 3rd gear change is

pretty automatic. You get to the rev limiter and change up without really feeling yourself

doing it, concentrating on the road ahead I suppose. It's like touch-typing ... you know what

you want to type and you see the letters coming up on the screen, but you never actually think

where the keys are, you just know. Somehow. Isn't that weird?

Cheers

Paul.

 lift?? an i being plain dumb here and jst not getting it lol ;)

corolla and celica TS have VVTLi unlike the vvti on a yaris

the L stands for lift

to put it simple its a clever little trick that the engine does near the top of the rev range and gives you a right kick in the backside of aceleration

Turning into a MAX POWER site.....

More impressive would be to watch the !Removed! blast away...as you carry on your way at a normal pace.....he sure wouldn't feel good...he'd feel like a twit.
