Hi mickey driver, I suggest checking the petrol line filter under the chassis, that is where my is on toyota estima, it just need to unscrew the butterfly ta a few turns to let any water drain out in a jar to check when fuel follows through then turn the butterfly tap off, keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for reply

I will check the petrol filter , broke down only a few miles from home on first run of the year.

had similar problem last year but the garage could not find any problem, didnt let us down at all

after that . the car not used over winter (converted camper) so water in fuel could be the cause.

the AA man suspect a camshaft sensor ?

do you know any way of reading fault code on older estima ?

thanks again for your help

cheers Mick

on a 1997 that would make it the same a Previa

iirc the diagnostic plug is under the top grille just behind the fuse box on the dash

it will be a very early obd2 so you will need a scan tool that can do obd2 k-line and/or J-OBD
