Corolla 2003 Engine Fault

Hi there,

I have some problem with my 2003 Toyota Corolla Coupe 1.6i 16v... Today, while I was arriving home a yellow light has turned on in the instrument panel, it's the Engine Fault light (A bit scary...).

I haven't noticed anything wrong in the engine, it revs ok and seems to be all right... The car has 20.000 km and is 16 months-old.

Does any one have any idea? Or at least... does anyone suffered the same problem?

Thank you very much.

suggest taking it to your main dealer?usually tends to be an engine sensor or temp sensor.most new cars have re-calls to sort faults like this, your car just probably been fixed yet.

I recommend carefully cutting some black PVC tape to size and sticking it firmly over the warning light on the dashboard's instrument panel.

Hey presto - problem resolved!

I haven taken the Corolla to the dealer and have told me that at least one sensor of the engine is not working well. They have reseted the error codes but the light was ON again after some kms at high speed.

The solution: remove the EFI fuse, wait, and plug it again, and the light is OFF (for some kilometers...) :hokus-pokus:

In two weeks time I will take it again to the dealer to fix the problem.

Regards.

That should raise the need of having sensors checking sensors, who in turn, are checked by other sensors and so on.....
