Corolla with green stripe number plate

Saw a Corolla Hybrid today with a green striped number plate. As far as I am aware this green stripe should only be used for zero emission vehicles. I’m sure it is an innocent mistake by the driver as to the legality of such usage

Could well be an aftermarket plate - so perhaps not an innocent mistake.

Or a factory test mule, where abouts was it spotted did it look otherwise normal?

It was on a 70 plate in Middlesbrough. All looked normal and had ‘Hybrid’ badge

Test mules normally do to fly under the radar.

For example the Rover MG F test mule was disguised as a Metro van - you wouldn't know looking at it until the back was opened.

We do similar in the forklift world with prototypes & test mules.

Number plates can have the Welsh flag, which is green and white.

I think anyone can do that on any car. , or am I wrong ?

hugo nebule ahs a good point that the welsh number plate is often confused iwtht he electric 1, apparently some ppl get it because it looks like the electric 1
