Voice control to play music track

I've never tried to use the voice control on my Corolla before but when I tried to play a music track today, all I kept getting was the voice telling me 'no media device selected'. Anyone able to help or offer advice please?

Have you already connected a USB stick with your music files?

Have you checked you can play those files manually before attempting voice control?

Yes and Yes to both.

Must admit I've not actually tried.

Maybe you need to select the source manually first?

Audio-> Source-> USB

I use Android Auto and have my music stored on my phone so I can select audio by voice bypassing the car's system.
