Dodgy fuel pump?

Evening.

I'm working on a 2005 106 k miles diesel which was stood for quite some time before I got it.

After all regular servicing completed including refurbished injectors ran well for about 300 miles then started throwing P0093 intermittently.

So..after researching had SCVs changed (denso) fuel filter diesel purge etc.

Fine again for a week then came back. Only happens after driving for around for at least 30 mins. Fine after code cleared for about 20 mins. Fine when cold/ cool. You would probably never notice if only did a maximum of 10 miles. Otherwise it's purring, pulls up Pennine hills no problem.

Until suddenly drops into limp and code comes up.

Anybody any ideas? I've heard the high pressure fuel pumps failing is extremely rare? Could it be a duff sensor? Should I get an auto electrical diagnostic done?

So not getting much response. Next steps following auto electrician are that no faults found.

Suggestions have been a bloom of diesel bug in the tank so having a look at the sender unit cleaning it and changing the filter along with recommended second main filter change after running with de bug additive which apparently gunks it up. He gave it a good blast up a steep hill and was pretty certain the fuel pump was good based on performance.

I'll keep posting for my own therapeutic purposes and in case someone benefits

Took the sender unit out and good look in the cleaned now sparkling fuel revealed small amount of shiny metal particles. Clearly the fuel pump is on the way out. Lots more work to do.

I would have thought the diesel specialist that put in the injectors would have noticed that -so not over the moon with them.

Timing belt and water pump, fuel pump and fuel system clean now.
