Hello Folks... 4x4 Newbie here...

I have just bought my first Hilux its a 91 2.4D fitted with wide wellers 31x10x15 camac's.. There is a vibration through the truck at 50+mph would anyone have any ideas, could it be the propshaft (do they give any probs?) or could it be the big wheels (still to get them balanced) :help:

I have just bought my first Hilux its a 91 2.4D fitted with wide wellers 31x10x15 camac's.. There is a vibration through the truck at 50+mph would anyone have any ideas, could it be the propshaft (do they give any probs?) or could it be the big wheels (still to get them balanced) :help:

Get your wheels balanced.

If that ain't the solution, check:

1. Shock absorbers. Look for fluid on the body near the piston seal. Also check

for deformation in the tubes.

2. Propshaft. Look for a rust spot near one end or the other. It might indicate a

weight has been knocked off. Also make sure your propshafts are in phase. The

U-Joint yokes should be lined up with each other.

3. Ball joints. jack the truck up and support it by both lower control arms. Push

and pull each front wheel top-to-bottom and -front-to-back. If there's slop

top-to-bottom, it's either ball joints or wheel bearings. If it's front to back, it's

steering linkage. Next, get a prybar and pry up on each wheel at the bottom. If

you see movement in either ball joint, it's bad.

Hope this helps.
