Removal of tailgate interior trim

I need to take this off on a 2014 (pre facelift). I've managed to unclip part of it and it appears to be fitted by sliding it up towards the rear window, however I'm unable to slide it down. There's a slot between the panel and metal part of the tailgate on the driver's side and I'm wondering if there's some kind of special tool that needs inserting in it to release something.

Bob, I bought this kit last year as I wanted to remove some trim on my Volvo to install a dash cam. Would recommend as I've used it a few times for other things 👍
