Hi folks

Exhaust hanger has rusted away and broken, can anyone suggest a after market strap which will fit? Something that will attach to the slicener and hook back into the rubber

Many thanks

Cut it off, weld a new bit of bar on - or replace the back box

I don't have a welder, will look into a replacement back box, the one on the car seems different to most standard ones.

An independent garage might be able to weld the hanger back on if you've got it still (and there's a bit of strong metal after wire brushing it) or they might be able to do something with this (universal 10mm exhaust hanger): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313490449449

If the backbox is rusty in other places, it might be worth replacing it all together.

its a standard back box

17430-0J030 up to 11/2008 (2SZFE)

17430-0Y010 11/2008 onwards (1NRFE)

i think yours is the later type

You can buy universal clamp type hangers

Universal = fits nothing, if it's the strap type the bolts usually rot off quickly doing that you might as well use fence wire or metal cable ties

Thanks everyone, back box is good condition apart from the hanger bit, I'll get the replacement metal and try the jb weld

It will need welding correctly, don't waste your time/money an exhaust place will be able to do the job in no time

On a related note, I have a couple of questions I was wondering if anyone could help with please.

I'm looking to replace the same back box on my 1NR-FE 2011 1.33 Yaris and thought I'd found one on eBay, but the seller is saying its only compatible with the 74kw/100hp variant and not the 73kw/99hp variant of this engine (which I have). Is there even a difference between the two? I see this quite a lot on various mechanical parts so curious where the differences actually lie between these two variants.

Secondly I'm looking to replace the fixtures (gasket, bolts, nuts and springs, not the rubber holders) for this. I appreciate the gasket must be specific for this exhaust but do the bolts, nuts and springs need to be matched with a Toyota part number too, or can generic ones work?

Thanks,

Thanks Flash.

Just for my own curiosity and learning, if I PM you the VIN number can you please confirm whether mine is the 99bhp or 100bhp variant? and whether the exhaust parts at least are interchangeable between the two?

I've just come across this listing on ebay for which the part number matches but the compatibility checker suggests it is for the 100hp engine.

Take eBay fitment charts with a pinch of salt, the difference is between the euro 4 (99) and euro 5 (98) engines

2011 should be euro 5

the back box for the 1nrfe 11/2008 - 07/2011 are all the same
