Hi all. I would like to ask, if someone already tried to replace the bulbs in the front roof light on Yaris 2020. Is it even possible ? I’d like to replace it with some cold light bulbs since those warm yellow are so weak.

thanks

Yeah someone posted a thread a while back where they replaced most of the bulbs (Which I have to agree are a bit pants) with LED. IIRC they did licence plate light, boot light, interior lights and mirror vanity lights.

As usual I can't remember who or find the thread...

The post was from Anchorman in a thread about Yaris Side Steps in mid June

Unless things have changed, this video shows 2006 - 2019. Possibly not much different for later cars, if at all. Mine are little wedgie lamps. I have fitted l.e.d. equivalents, far brighter. If it's still that type of lamps, the l.e.d.s are usually polarity picky. i.e. don't light one way, turn through 180deg..

The thing is that what I have read. It is only possible to replace the whole modul like on the picture. But I do not believe that….

Looks like they've "improved" the light.:whistling1:

Is it now l.e.d., as fitted, but warm light, not white light? If it is a l.e.d. complete unit then I would suspect great difficulty and destruction is needed to make any changes?

anchorman led the way. I then went on to replace all the others. Details in the above linked thread.

Wedgie type. Presumably the plastic "lens" just prises off to access them like with previous models?

Of course I have answered that by seeing the video linked to above!

I’ve changed mine today to LED. MK4 Yaris dome lights.

I’ve discovered that the black portion of the assy unclips from main body. x4 clips front and rear and x1 each side. Came out easily after first 2/3 clips released.

One alarming aspect though - all the buttons fell out once I’d removed panel. They all clipped back in though with no issues.

You will need a trim tool to release panel.

As already stated, LED bulbs are polarity conscious, so if they don’t work, try rotating them 180 degrees. Also ensure the switch ( where buttons fell out ) have not been accidentally switched to off.

👍👍
