I am curious how that's happening as they're locked in while the car is charging aren't they?? If they brute-force it out the connector will be damaged and unsaleable, and obv they can't cut them unless they want 400v up the jaxie.

Unless they're just nicking them for the copper, but surely that isn't worth the effort!?

Some just break the rear window and take the cables away, most if not all Evs has their charging cables in boot or froot while not charging. This is when they got nicked, not when charging ☝️

There have been more than a few cases of the light fingered (maybe now fingerless) stealing copper cabling from the railway and electrical sub stations.

The car charging cables may be small beer in comparison, but remember thieves are quite happy to cause £000s of damage to nick something worth a tenner.😒

On a slight tangent, this is why Africa has internet backbones as good as ours, as thieves kept digging up the copper cables to steal the copper, and it was costing their telcos so much they switched to much more expensive fibre-optic cables, which were much faster and have a scrap value of nothing :laugh:
