Hi I have just taken my car to an auto electrian due to issues with the key fob not opening the doors.

They couldn't find any fault codes and said it must be the body  control module required. I have rung Toyota who say they are £700 plus vat, they think it may be the door ECU which is 450. Does anybody have any suggestions. I take it I will have to buy new so the aerial numbers match. many thanks

Do all of the key fobs not open the doors? Or just one of them?

Make sure you get someone to pinpoint the problem before you action any work - They will quite happily load up the parts cannon at your expense if you let them just guess.

It might be something daft like the key has to be recoded to the doors. so don't let them start changing £700 modules until everyone is sure what the problem is otherwise you'll end up spending thousands on an entirely new door system piece by piece and still not have a fix!

body control doesn't have much to do with the locking, Not sure what you mean by aerial numbers 🙃 door ecu ??

 

Start a fresh

1. does the key fob have a new Battery ?

2. does the central locking work when using the key in the door ?

3. do all doors lock/unlock by the lock/unlock button in the car ?

4. does your car have a key or push button start ?

Would Toyota techstream software not recode your fobs again I'm nearly sure it should if u were any close 2 me I'd let u rip away with my version of Toyota techstream software .I'm not sure how 2 do it on the software but nearly sure bound to do it

Aw many thanks I'm in Nw UK I think it may be time to get rid as lots seems to be going wrong with it
