Rear seats Hybrid Battery

Hi all,

Im curious, how dangerous is it for people after walking in rain to get in the back where the Battery is under them?

I have been thinking of buying some leather seat cover for the rear seat to prevent any water seaping through. Or am i being an idiot thinking that this would happen even?

Have come across these front seat covers with airbag functioning which i may get eventually.

But my first thing on the bucket list for this car is to get a chameleon windshield tint against sunglares. 😄

No danger to passengers if they seat on with wet clothes. Battery has metal cover and you need a lots of water to get in eventually to cause any issues. 👍

Yeah the traction Battery is sealed so is protected against that sort of thing; Not sure about the 12v Battery compartment so much, but TBH if there's so much water involved that that becomes an issue you've probably got other problems!

(Unlike Ed China's car the hybrids are very very un-amphibious  )

I imagine it'd be okay tho' as me and my Auris-owning friend have both left the car windows fully open during thundering rainstorms in the past and our cars haven't exploded yet despite getting so rained in I had to carefully remove and pour the water out of the rubber mats! (Thank smeg the Toyota ones have a deep lip!!)

In Nottingham city centre, most of the private hire taxis are Auris estates. Taxi drivers love them. I’ve never seen a back seat passenger get zapped after getting in when it’s raining. 🤣🤣🔋🤯

It is DC Battery, we never get any electric shock even if the + or - shorted to the body of the car.  If it is AC, it will kill us when we touch the hot wire and we stand on the ground. DC current only flow when + and - are touched at the same time, but the safety Fuse will blow up first before harm us. When any of the pole touch body/ground, the check engine light will be on. That's why no one ever die from HV Battery unless they dissambly the Battery unsafely. Only Li ion battery can have fire hazard. For more than 22 years, we never heard HSD car catch on fire from the NiMh battery. It is very safe technology and Toyota moves to very safe solid state battery on its hybrid first in the future, not to the EV.

Off course we should not allow any water or salt gets into the battery area. It may corrode the bush bar cable and bad batttery error will show up. We can replace just the Bush bar, and Toyota sell them separately for about $200, or you can clean it with vinegar.
