Why are petrol prices rising when I can't see any reason why. If someone does please let me know.?

Supposedly it's because of Iran firing missiles and stuff at Israel which got the oil market spooked and increased stockpiling.

It started to go down again (Of course not for us) but Israel have apparently fired some back so that'll probably push it back up again. :rolleyes1:

Well this will be fun if it kicks off between these two and the potential of dragging all and sundry into it. Who knows what the the price will rocket to. Mind you the way things are going the whole lot of these dictator power mad psychopaths will blow us all up so it won't really matter.:tank:

Whenever there is a crisis somewhere in the world, oil prices always seem to be at threat.

When all our cars are electric, will they still find some excuse to cause our car power costs to rise?  Of course they will!

Cheapest I've found without going out of my way is the Sainsburys in Watford at 143.9; My locals are all around 145.9. Abridge Shell letting me down at 151.9! No Abridge sausage rolls for me!

The two local service stations that I buy from are Tesco (mainly) and Sainsbury’s.  At the moment, for petrol, both are charging 147.9p per litre.

Noticed today that the local Texaco station is selling unleaded at 140.9 and diesel ay 144.9.

The tesco just down the road was 146.9 and 154.9 respectively.

No prizes for guessing where the longest queues for fuel where 😁

Steady prices on A1 area near Grantham with Shell at Grantham and Stamford both 149.9.

Sainsbury 147.9 and Gulf 147.7.

Different forum, but Ukraine attacks on Russian refineries has limited their ability to process Crude.   More Crude being released on World markets thus driving prices down.

They read this thread and felt sorry for you? 145.9 here. £30 fuel today gave 310 miles estimated range. Got a week long trip to Cornwall next month, let's see what the mpg will be like in my Yaris.

Holding at 144/145ish here.

On a slight tangent, I went to a Jet for the first time for E10 as it was 1p cheaper than the Sainsburys down the road and the car seems to like it better; Only E10 but was noticeably less dakketty during stationary-charging, and similar to the BP Ultimate and Esso Supreme - Very surprised!

Might have just been a fluke as I think I tried E5 at a different Jet when I was experimenting more and it didn't make any noticeably difference. Will be interesting to see if it stays like this over the course of the tank!

It's funny you mentioned Jet. A few weeks ago, on a trip to Norwich, we noticed that unleaded was a lot cheaper than at our local Morrisons. So I pulled up at the pump and started to fill up. I looked at the gauge and noticed the price was higher than the unleaded. I realised I was putting in Jet Ultra. I was pi***d off as it was dearer than we expected to pay. Well, I couldn't understand why the car felt different; it felt smoother and more responsive. To be honest, it was a good mistake as the car has never run better.

Oooh I bet with the turbocharger liked that :naughty:

"Honey, how did we get home in half the time it took to get here...?"

"Err, the jet stream...?" :whistling1:

I have to be honest, this is the first time I’ve actually made the mistake of filling up with a different fuel than the one I intended. I can see how people make this mistake. I wasn't paying attention when I picked up the pump. In my case, it was a happy result, but that's not true for many others. Misfuelling, mistakenly filling your vehicle with the wrong type of fuel can result in substantial damage to your car’s engine and fuel system, leading to expensive repairs and even potential permanent harm. In the UK, there are an estimated 150,000 misfuelling incidents per year, making this issue both prevalent and relevant to motorists from all backgrounds. I will definitely make sure that I check in the future, as I certainly do not want to end up as one of the 150,000.

184.9p E5 compared to 151.9p.E10:eek:
