Carina E - Engine Management Light

I took my Carina e to the main dealer as the engine management light was coming on after a few seconds. They told me the oxygen regulator was faulty and quoted over £300. I had the regulator changed by a local garage and the light still comes on after 30 seconds. Could it have been caused by changing the Battery? The mechanic who carried out the replacement said that the fault is now stored in memory. Can I reset this or do I have to get a dealer to do this?

Thanks for any info

disconnecting the Battery will erase fault codes. Also if the fault causing the error is fixed after three successful engine starts the light will go out even though the fault is still logged. Sounds like the problem hasn't been fixed.

When once the codes are stored, it will remain in the ECU memory until you reset it. So in other words, even if you sort out the problem, the code will remain and show up each time you recall the codes unless you reset it. Therefore, once the repair is completed or to see whether the fault is really cured, the system has to be reset. Again this is pretty easy too. Simply remove the fuse for the EFI for more than 10 seconds. Alternatively you can also disconnect the negative terminal of the Battery. Once you reset the OBD, check again by recalling the codes. If the code still remains, it is either the reset procedure was incomplete or the fault still remains
