Hello all

Need to replace my inner driveshaft boot on a 2007 auris 1.4 petrol.  Do I need to split the outer cv joint first.

I think I done one before but can't remember.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Hi,

to work on inner drive shafts you need to take the outer shaft out of the knuckle then inner shaft out of gearbox removing the whole axle from the car. Clean, inspect, re grease and install a new boot.
You may be able to do all that on the car without removing the axle but you will need to disconnect the ball joint from the suspension arm and outer tie rod end pushing the whole axle and knuckle assembly towards outer side. Don’t know which method will work best for you. You need to think and decide.
Good luck. 👍
