I’m glad to see this forum. I also have this problem and awaiting a response from Toyota UK. I will update once I have heard back from them.

I had this on mine too.
Informed my dealership who said that this is normal? (I don't think so)

They polished it out, which definitely helped, however it seems to keep coming back!
Is there anything I can do to make it better? (Gave up on the dealership cuz they just keep dismissing this issue)

Any help would be appreciated!

I understand, from the guy who detailed my car, that the lower boot spoiler is not painted but is a plastic having a gloss finish (the upper spoiler is painted with a black metallic finish). He spent ages carefully removing scratches and marring (and this, a brand new car!!) before applying a ceramic coating.
Be very careful when using anything aggressive so as not to remove the gloss appearance as it won’t be very thick.
A ceramic coating should reduce risk of future issues with marring/staining

I have same issue. Looks like water marks on rear spoiler but won’t come off. Washed car only by hand and has it three months. Will contact dealer.

Any added valeting products at dealers like protection treatment with fancy names ( ceramic coating) - bring higher risk of paint work damage in the future.
The reasons are all those ceramic coating or specialty treatments work as top lacquer sealant that make a bond with the original top coat to protect it however only specialist shampoos and soft water should be used afterwards to maintain car cleanliness. In real world this is almost impossible, acidic rains, screen wash solutions, road grid and dirt, salt water all these elements can and do chemical reactions when in contact with your new “ specialist coated “ paint work and the results are obvious.
Best way to protect your car factory pain is to wash regularly with low ph level high quality products, hand wash by yourself or valeters, and avoid adding any paint protection except simple old school car wax.

I also have this problem of  white water marks on back black spoiler. This is on my Yaris Excel 24 plate. Taken it back twice now and buffed out by garage but now waiting to see what service manager says.

I had the same issue of white marks on a brand new Yaris 24 plate. I used a pencil eraser which took a bit of time  but worked pretty well.

Once marks have been removed you should protect the surface from recurrence. A ceramic coating is recommended.

I’ve read that using one of those magic sponges on trim removes marks, haven’t tried it myself and not sure it would be any good on the trim that people are having issues with, as usual, try it on an inconspicuous area first .

just noticed it on my yaris that is only a few months old so looks like off to the dealer to see if they can sort it out but I suspect there will be some argument from reading this thread.

It's a shame the OP GSM11 has not updated us on the outcome with the Dealer 😭

dealer polished mine, which made it disappear, but it's back again.... 😢

As mentioned by someone earlier, there are only two ways to make this disappear...

1.  Full Replacement.

2.  A full professional rub down and resprayed with the recommended top lacquer.

I served my apprenticeship as a paintsprayer when I was a wee boy.  I think nothing has changed since then for there to be a third option to my list.

well been to my dealer who has a body shop attached and the main body shop person came out and looked at it. He said "they dont have lacquer on and are just plain plastic" but then did remark that its very strange and not seen it before and it should not really happen on a 24 plate but suggested that its the type of screen wash and that because its been hot that perhaps the chemicals reacted to the plastic in the heat and caused it to stain. He could not feel any real bumps in the stain so said it looked like it was surface stain of some kind.

I did mention that I had read that others had had this issue so he did then go and check on the computer to see if there were any known issues logged with toyota and said there were none for this issue. He then said he could buff it out and if it happens again to go back and they will take photos and see if they can either claim a new part under the Toyota service warranty or under the Main toyota warranty but that could take some time.

I was pleased he took the time to look since I literally just dropped in on them.

So we shall see, but for now I think I will remove the current screen wash and just go with water and washing up liquid that wont ever freeze in winter 🤪 and if I put in enough washing up liquid I can have a mobile foam party.

To be honest, it ABSOLUTELY bugs the hell out of me when Toyota comes up with excuses such as, screen wash, too hot, you brake too hard, don't drive the car enough blah blah blah and apportion the blame on us !!  It could well all be true, but this is meant to be why we pay reasonable high prices for Toyota cars nowadays, they should be checking ALL such things during the testing and R&D depts.

That with no lacquer on the plastics trim is just another bs from a dealer.
The headlights has lacquer and so most of the shiny plastics on any car. If they have no lacquer they would probably never had these issues. Because these issues are actually a lacquer peeling off as a result of chemical reaction. And usually happens on new cars which most likely has the original screen wash from factory, so all that is a warranty work and a Toyota manufacturer problem, not the owners.
The dealer job is to accommodate these work and sort the issues. Their fault also is that they push adding a paint protection, something that in practice can actually worsen the situation with paintwork problems and exactly that we see here. Any extra hard ceramic or other similar coatings require extra care afterwards and are prone to issues when the car been washed with caustic solutions or scree wash or acidic rain.

Well just to add my two penneth, my wifes Yaris Excel(23 plate 11 ,months old) also has this issue with the rear lower boot lid, so not limited to 22 plate cars for sure. Our car is loved , cleaned and polished reqularly with AutoGlym so its not for lack of care.

I've reported it to the dealer on booking the first service so we can see what they say.

I don't hold out much hope as I don't think much of the dealer customer service TBH. so I will get ready for a discussion.

I'll keep you all updated.
