The New Vehicle Order form I have signed and returned sets out the pricing, part exchange etc.. I'm happy with that.

Well back in the days in the countries of Soviet Union you put a deposit for a new car and can wait up to 10 years , no worries for been an old  model when you have it as the model ranges change every 30-40 years . Outside the dealer second hand buyers were offered two or three times the new car value just to take yours 👌, everything was on short supply while in western countries Europe UK and USA people been having trouble what colour to choose for their new motor,. How things change in life……
Welcome to modern world of 2022 😂👍

Keep your cars guys if you need them as no surprise if we are heading towards the example from above. Joke on the side

My contract with the dealer permits price increases.  It is a standard contact form.  They offer and you have the choice of modifying in.

They have the option of accepting your amendments, rejecting them, or modifying them.

Contracts are two way streets.  We are used to this in business but tend to forget when it is personal.

You have the option of walking away.

I don't think I would have been shown a copy of our dealer's contract if I hadn't insisted. It arrived this morning as a pdf and I wouldn't have placed the order if I hadn't seen it.

We must pay any increase in car tax, first registration fee, or VAT, we cannot cancel the contract because of such increases.

If the price of the actual car changes we have 14 days  to withdraw after being informed 'in writing (email to suffice)'. The 14 days is a strict time limit and our notice must be given in writing - the 'email to suffice' qualification does not apply to our notice so we would need to deliver it or send by "signed for" post to comply fully with the contract.

What, you can't just go to the dealer or call them and say "No thanks!" ?? :confused1:

All seems perfectly fair seeing as all of those charges are down to the UK Government & not set by either Toyota or the dealer.

In mine,  clause 6, manufacturers price at time of delivery

Clause 11, subject to clause 6, variation signed by customer and seller.

Clause 3, the seller has the right to buy the PX vehicle if the buyer pulls out.

The contract is certainly loaded.

No, you can't, under our contract anyway - yours might be different.

Everyone has got used to doing important business over the phone, or (sometimes) by email. But that does not always work. In disputes where there is a written contract and the contract stipulates how notices are to be given the contract will usually prevail. If there is any ambiguity and the contract is between a business and a consumer the contract will usually be construed against the business but if there is no such ambiguity and the contract states unambiguously that notices must be given in a specific form and within a stated time limit then that is what must happen if such notices are to be valid and effective.
