Hi all,

I'm trying to hunt down 16" rims to replace 17" rims on my Corolla Hybrid TS estate. I don't know enough about rims, specifically should every single measurement be precisely the same as on the stock rims?

For example, I've found these genuine Toyota rims marked for Verso, part number PZ406-T067E-ZF. Their specs are 6,5x16 ET 39. According to a website which lists specs for various cars, my car needs 7Jx16 ET40.

I'd greatly appreciate if someone can help me figure out:

  1. If it doesn't say J, does it mean it's a different shape and shouldn't be used?
  2. Is 6.5 vs 7 and ET39 vs ET40 make them incompatible?

Thanks!

The J you don't need to worry about as that's just the shape of the bead, and they're pretty much all J.

The 6.5 vs 7 is the width of the rim, and that's okay to be different, but the ET value should be different too, so the rim is in roughly the same position and you don't risk grinding the wheel arch or something.

It's less hassle if you can get one with the same width and ET, as then you don't need to think about it, but that isn't always possible.

I must admit I couldn't be ubiked to figure it out so I just got the 'official' rims from Toyota (After not just going round the houses but also the cathedral, stadium and several museums, just to find the smegging part number!! ), but those may be too expensive in your case if you want alloys (My 15s are steel so even at dealer prices they weren't too expensive; New Toyota alloys OTOH can be very expensive...!)

Also make sure you know what the tyre size you'll need is too

You need to be careful with these as it might not fit at all because of the callipers size especially if you are coming from larger oem wheels.
Here  https://www.wheel-size.com you can find your exact size of available wheels and here to double check if they fit and how https://www.willtheyfit.com

I use these two to locate my replacement wheels and have exact match. Previous generation Auris/ Corolla has slightly narrower wheels 6.5 agains 7” for your model 2019->

They will likely fit but will poke 5.3mm less, which may change slightly driving characteristics and look, if me I will buy exact same spec as yours., or simply paint the silver ones you have in Matt grey or black.

Thanks for the replies Cyker, Tony!

Yeah, I'll keep it safe and try to find the exact ones for a Corolla.
