Rough guide on cost of new injectors and labour

I picked up an 2008 Avensis TR D-4D in early July and 2 weeks later it broke down after masses of black smoke bellowed from the exhaust followed by loss of power and then huge revs, fortunately I got it stopped without doing any internal engine damage.

The garage I was recovered to changed the oil and filter as the intercooler was full of diesel and confirmed a fault code to be one for large fuel leak and suspect it's down to a faulty injector/s. It's drivable if the revs are kept below 3000rpm..

The trader that sold it to me is ignoring calls and texts after initially agreeing to me to take the car to the garage, but he decided to play the wear and tear card and says it's not covered by any warranty or law for the sale of not fit for purpose.

Before I go further with courts etc I'd like an idea of costs. I went to one Toyota dealer who were in the process of changing management and didn't want to know.

Does anybody have an idea on the costs of injectors and labour costs too?

Also are there any specialists that could do the job in the South East London/North Kent area?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Had to have 4 injectors fitted to my T27 D4D in 2019 with mileage of 111000, injectors were £291 each + vat and labour was £124 + vat. Total to get it fixed was £1716 (includes injector testing, fuel filter and fuel additive), luckily I still had it under warranty but even so I had to pay £700 because of the mileage. This was done at an independent garage in Northants. (apart from testing which was done at Toyota). This seems to be a not uncommon problem with these engines.

When you buy a car from a dealer you have up to 30 days to reject it, I don't think the dealer can get away with "wear and tear" for such a big fault after 2 weeks. If you sign up to Which Legal they can give you advice on consumer law and make help you draft a response to the dealer.

Thank you for the reply, good to know on the costs.

I've been in touch with Citizens Advice and have sent him a letter outlining my rights and offering him the chance to repair at his costs, swap the car for another or if it's uneconomical to repair refund me.

He's replied by saying he's on holiday, despite updating his website, Autotrader page and Facebook. It's to be expected, I think it's going to be a drawn out affair and I'll have no reliable car for weeks, it's so frustrating. He has good reviews until you see the ones that are similar to mine, he then totally denied any responsibility and says he's never even dealt with the people complaining..
