Hey everybody,

I stumbled accross a paseo on autotrader yesterday, and it struck me as being a fantastic looking and what seemed to be unbeleiveably cheap car.

for around 3,000-5.000 i've started a search to get hold of one of these! After all i own a rover 216sli right now so i need a change (i understand old man jokes may follow that revelation!) Anyway any advice on where i could get hold of a good condition one i would be in your debt :)

Also any of you guys out there able to give me a guide on what to look for on these cars; such as where wear and tear will show up when inspecting?

I am only interested in the car with a subtle bodykit (would add one if it was a standard model) as i feel the car on its own misses something!

Any advice about my hunting would be appritiated, i am going to try and head down to London on wednesday to look at this (oo and im aware this body kit is hardly subtle):

i think its great ur thinking of getting a paseo :P i only just got one recently and have had no problems watsoever with it. iguess wen looking for wear and tear just look for the usual like suspension, how the engine goes, what it soundz like etc. also that model ur lookin at has a sunroof so maybe check for rust aswell (easily gotten rid of tho), check out the roof seals around the sunroof, and make sure all the electrics work hehe. only having just got one not really aware of any common problems with them.. it could be an idea to maybe take someone along that has an idea about paseo's if u can. like a mechanic maybe. good luck with the paseo hunting :D

Another Norwich TOC member... I have a Sera (similar mechanicals to a Paseo but with a different body)

Mellow_Yellow has one of the 50 yellow limited edition ones for sale...

DazH has a nice one

The Paseo you link to in Autotrader looks like PaseoGT4's. He sold it...

Hope this helps.

Cheers u guys \o/

need to talk to mellow_yellow i think, i assume his ltd edition one is shown in his sig (well half of it).

is DazH selling his?

and yea the GT4 i saw seems to be one mentioned earlier here in the forum.. damn that was nice! :(

Thanks too_blonde - I think you're right with getting a mechanic to come along, im appalling with spotting car troubles (mostly due to lack of knowledge about what goes on within a bonnet!) hehe

Im going to revive mellow_yellows topic and hope he still has it!

ohh and toyotasera.co.uk you're in norwich! I may have to consult you on the garages you use around here, half the ones here a rip off merchants! My current one tried to run an MOT for 130 quid! pah! 45 down the road!

pm me your email adress and i'll send you some updated pics etc, cos i recently had some work done on it....

Great!

Well i went one better and added you through msn (hopefully u still use it!)

Sounds like a perfect arrangement, i have a poor sibling that is trying to raise the cash to get my rover from me. If i like the car :) i may just wait the months it takes you to find a perfect replacement.

If at all possible id rather you sent the pics directly through msn as my hotmail is full of e-mails from the last few years of use :)

For some reason pm, e-mail and even when i click on another username i get errors on this forum about not being allowed to do so?! Anyway looking forward to hearing from you :)

Was thinking of selling it <_< but I think I've had a change of heart, put so much time and money into it and it gets noticed everywhere ;)

Polished it yesterday and when I'd finished thought to meself 'don't be a fool, keep it!'

They're pretty bullet proof, but check the rear shocks as one or two members have had problems with them leaking, but its an easy fix

Good luck with your car hunting :)

Aaawww way to go DaZh  so u be keeping the little paseo

Thanks DazH - and i agree it looks like a fantastic motor from this perspective :)

Rear shocks have been added to my checklist - Have you guys found parts much of a problem when something goes wrong? i have noticed that a few owners seem to struggle to get hold of bits from what i can see on forums?

mellow-yellow could you sent those pics to beeby_chris@hotmail.com (i am only leaving this e-mail on temporarily show until you reply cus PM doesn't work for me!)

Thanks mate

Actually run of the mill parts are easy enough to get hold of, but performance wise you have to do a bit more digging to find em ;)

But its par for the course when you buy something a bit different I suppose

Yeah starletsr, looks like you'll have to put up with me on this forum for a little longer :D

as the other guys mentioned earlier, check electrics and shocks but also check your pulley's and the light behind the aircon, fan control, etc is a dodgy contact as well.. timing belt is a major killer too. I bought my paseo at 212,000km and was lucky that the shocks and belt had just been replaced for the 2nd time

im selling my paseo - well cynos if your interested, im looking for offers in the region of £2700 - 2800

Im selling my toyota cynos B japanese import to fund a new car. Ive had the car for about a year now and ive had no problems with it atall.

The car has done 130000 Km which is about 70000 miles but the engine was replaced about a month ago as the old engine was giving me some stick. The new engine has only done about 30000 miles from new. Which is good for a 1991 engine.

The engine is a 5E-FHE which is alot better than the british 5E-FE which are in all the british versions of this car. And there arent many at that. The engine is a 1.5 16 valve and is very nippy. it sits at about 115bhp atm but can be uprated easily.

Current Mods to the car.

: Magnex 4" back box - sounds awsome :

: Jvc Chameleon Head unit :

: Sony 6x9's & 13cm door Speakers :

: Varad Undercar neon kit - Green :

: Street glow footwell neons - Green :

: 17" Cam alloys with 4 Yokohoma tyres - 2 need replacing :

: HKS Superflow induction kit :

: PI -40mm lowering springs :

when the engine was replace so where all the belts in the engine bay. The brake pads have just been replaced for Ferodo pads.

Bad points.

Minor scratches to paint work

paint defect on the roof

power steering pump makes a noise after about 3 hours of driving

exhaust bangs on the axle when theres to many people in the car. - Just put some rubber on the axle to eliminate this.

Both mirrors are damaged - but i will supply a new set to replace them

Good Points.

Very nippy

Rare . only 50 cynos B registered in the UK

looks very nice for a 1991 car

Interior is clean

sound running engine

sounds very powerful with the exhaust

good sound system

Head turner !

Low insurance

Cheap to run

Shares parts with alot of other toyota's

IM LOOKING FOR OFFERS IN THE £2700 AREA PLEASE !

e-mail me on: pka_epyon@hotmail.com

I bought a paseo 2 months ago for my fiance. We were looking at Polos but for the money our paseo was a bargain and much better specced:-

1996 1.5 ST, 53k, full history, 9 months tax and test and a slight bodykit and alloys and all for £2k.

Bargains are out there, I had a look on autotrader yesterday and there was a standard ST with 48k miles for £1650, Haven't got the link, sorry.

As for mechanical advice, my fiance's brother is a Toyota technician, but at the moment we haven't had to use him!!

Good luck in your search :D

Maestro.
