Forduklike, it's auto be better than the manual high bite clutch on manual aygo.

I'd go for auto over a high bite clutch on the manual aygo

As Frostyballs has mentioned in other posts, I don't see the issue with the high bite point. One soon adapts to it.

As for the MMT, yeah great for driving convenience, but make sure you get a 3rd party warranty, or at least serviced with Toyota to benefit from their Relax Warranty.

Are you saying the auto is not very good and not reliable?

How much is 3rd party warranty

Don't know how much 3rd party warranties are, but 1 years Toyota Relax Warranty is included with every dealer service, up to 10 years/100k miles.

As for the MMT, there's posts all over the web, regarding problems with that gearbox. It's technically a manual gearbox with a robotised gear shifter.

I was considering one years ago, but the horror stories put me off buying one.

The new auto box is a conventional belt-and-cones CVT, but Toyot have done something right with it as it has proven to be very reliable so far unlike most other manufacturers *cough*Nissan*cough*.

The old one, called MMT and later X-Shift, are basically manuals but a computer controls clutch and gear selector, but does it like a learner.

The old one has a really bad reputation for reliability, and is not very refined; It seems most people with it use it in manual mode, where you tell it when to shift up or down, as the auto mode tends to make bad and jerky gear choices.

When it's new it's not too bad but after some years of use it often doesn't work as it should, e.g. not going in to gear properly or being very jerky or hesitant when moving off.

The system is very expensive to repair when it goes wrong because most garages won't touch it and hardly anyone knows how to do it except dealers, and they charge big money (And fix with Parts Cannon)

IMHO the Aygo gear boxes from best to worse are CVT > Manual > MMT

Alas CVT only available on newer models so more expensive.

Absolutely.

Both my vehicles (as many other vehicles owners have) are now worth thousands more than they were a year or so ago.

I have a friend who took a large bank loan out to buy a car, months down the road he still has the cash in his pocket and the old car still on the drive, just simply cannot find a suitable car for the money, so waiting it out for a while, but at least he is paying off the low interest loan in the meantime.

My wife’s car was written off earlier in the year by another road user, the insurance paid out the correct value but we simply cannot find a decent replacement, so again the money stays in the bank until the day that something comes along that’s a worthy replacement.

Its very strange times, just not a lot we can do about it. Pay the inflated prices or live without is about the only choices.

Out of interest what is full tank range on aygo

Posted

From what I remember about 500-ish miles...?

Posted

Fuel tank capacity - 35 litres/9.2 gallons (UK). Range will depend on driving style, usage (urban, rural, motorway, etc), and so on.

It's called the small car tax, the Aygo and Yaris have always commanded higher prices, 2.0L and above cars are cheap as the running costs are very high most have downsized, well look at the irish prices 5-7 year old Auris hybrids are selling for 18-20K euro

cheap cars don't hang around, and they're usually cheap for a reason

Just to mention this £13k is a discounted price off the RRP which commanded £17400 which was the whole point of the mention/post in relation to resale . It seemed to have deviated somewhat

Car prices are generally high at the moment - new AND second hand. Possibly, due to the macroeconomic climate, luxury cars are not quite as highly priced as people are downsizing.
