Fuse Box Location

I decided to install a Dashcam at the weekend and bought the hardwire kit so I could wire it into the fuse box with a fuse tap. Very straightforward apart from the location of the front internal fuse box.

I presume the designer was a 4ft double jointed gymnastic contortionist! Wouldn't want to have to access that in an emergency!

In all seriousness, it wouldn't be bad idea to locate it before you really need to.

I still haven’t got around to fitting my dash cameras, I really must get around to it. Do you remember what fuse you used?

IIRC (and I might well not 🙂 ) you simply pop out the glove compartment and there it is ...

It was so difficult to see but if you assume the top is where the horizontal fuses are, I originally put it in the first vacant slot from the left on the bottom row. That was a permanent 12v. The other vacant slots on the bottom row were acc switched 12v. To be honest, I did it trial and error plugging the fuse tail in then checking for permanent or switched with a multimeter before plugging in the bullet connector.

I've actually changed it to a switched supply now, I didn't like the screen being on for a few minutes when I left the car. The parking mode still works while the Dashcam Battery is charged. If I find I need to change it, I can just swap back to the other slot.

Never considered removing the glovebox but I'm not sure if it would be that much easier. The manual says to remove the panel under the glovebox, which is easy enough with 5 push tabs. You then need to remove the fuse box cover with another tab which was tricky to locate flying blind. But once in the fusebox, I literally had to lay on the floor with my back arched over the door sill and my head fully in the footwell with a torch. Not a pretty sight for any passerby!
