Are you automatically manual?

It has been many years since we've had a manual transmission car and are used to automatics. However, since the car has the manual mode and paddles we have yet to bother trying this. I was wondering how many owners actually use the paddles.

Also, could there be any detrimental effects long term to the transmission or engine if this is used more frequently or not used at all.

In a word, no - In auto mode the computer still moves the same linkages and actuators, and in manual mode you tell the computer when to do it so theres no difference to the mechanical side of things.
