Sensory Perception

A neighbour had one of the TPMS sensors fail on their car today and said they would change the Battery.  I was led to believe that these sensors are sealed and the Battery cannot be replaced. After reading Cykers reply on an earlier post, it appears that they can. The process seems to require removing sealing compound and unsoldering and resoldering the new Battery. Thinned out silicone can be used to replace the missing compound.

It is not a 5 minute job but can certainly be done, also a TPMS reader will need to confirm it is working on replacement.

However, as these can be changed is there any technical reason why these sensor batteries are not designed for easier battery replacement instead of the cost of a new sensor?
