Does anyone know where the ecu is located in a 2019 Yaris?

Sorry ECU is in the engine bay but a Pita to get at tho, the immobilizer, Becu and hybrid ecu (if fitted) are in the car

if it's security related they will take the car by any means, the ecu is in a good position and rarely have any water or corrosion problems

That was the reason behind the question I had to scrap my last car due to the stupid place they put the ECU meaning it sat in a water bath and eventually failed, I am happy to know my Toyota will not end up the same way.

Ford, Vauxhall and PSA all have models with ecu's in stupid places, iirc nissan (renault) have a car that has the ecu in the scuttle and bmw and vag wrap ecus in a nice absorbent foam too

Mine was a Corsa and as you say the ECU was in the gap at the bottom of the windscreen where the wiper motor is housed i vowed i will never touch another Vauxhall again.

Corsa b and c aren't bad but the Corsa D has its fair share of issues, i will not go back to Vauxhall now, especially as they are all Peugeot

Same here i have owned Ford and Vauxhall cars all my life i will not be buying either again especially as they and other manufacturers have moved to "belt in oil" if you have never heard of them watch this video and always but a car with a timing chain!

I still don't understand why that's thing! It's literally the worst of both worlds - You still don't have the longevity of a chain, and you loose the ease of replacement of a dry belt!

I suspect the belt rubber will experience accelerated wear vs a dry belt as the contaminants in the oil attack it, esp. with the exhaust gasses acidifying the oil!

Worst thing is mechanics will be unaware the second belt exists so will change the external belt only the customer will assume thats all it needs and its a ticking time bomb before the belt inside the engine breaks.

Timing belts rubber compound running in oil,

timing Belt running in oil first I heard about it was on a Citroen cars and they are failing very early then a improved belt came out but I presume its still to early to say how long it will last.
