Project "daughters new RAV4"

Hi everyone.

Almost finished the clutch change in the driveway.

First though. Where do I get the o ring to seal up the vacuum pump on an 04 d4d

Had to cut the near side track rod off and the near side ball joint. New ones on order.

Both brake back plates rusted. New ones on order.

When removing the drive shaft nut on the off side it stripped the thread so new CV joint on order.

Slave cylinder was difficult to remove.(just fiddly)

Anyway, I proved Haynes wrong. It said the 4 wheel drive version can only be done on a proper lift and to remove the engine and gearbox together

I only removed the gearbox. New single mass flywheel fitted and new clutch. Gear box back and just waiting for parts and time.

I would say that I'm fortunate to have a engine support bar and an engine hoist.

Thanks

Is it really dealer only?

My local parts place said Toyota was a difficult make for parts as they don't use the parts software the others do.

Okay, thanks, I'll check my local one out 👍😁👍

Out of curiosity. Is it possible the vacuum pump could leak oil internally from somewhere other than the o ring?

iirc there is an oil feed to both bearings

so if the internal seals are shot, it may put oil into the vanes

The numbers above a wrong

correct ones are

29342-27010

29342-48020

29361-27010 is the pump drive

Hey, it's all back together and it changes gear perfect. Two problems with brakes with may be the same or two separate issues.

If I push the brake pedal harsh two or three times I end up with the warning light coming on with each press(vacuum pump maybe)?

If I pull up gently with no skidding the abs grumbles under the pedal for a second just before actually stopping? Confused......
