Car left on

Either way for the mirrors if the car been left on and key fob inside you can leave and shut the door without warning beep , other Toyota models will have drl on and this is most obvious sign the car is on plus the dash lights but both of these can be ignored. No option the car to start itself , set itself into ready mode or condition the cabin to date on any model, eventually this option is coming next years corolla.

Rules for the pro driver:

when you park the car before you switch off the car turn some systems off manually like ac, radio, lights, fold the side mirrors with button, lift up sun visors for example, then at the end press stop/start button, exit the car , lock and look all around while you are walking away, note if all windows are close, look body panels for damage and all tyres for pressure loss. Sounds like too much, but once adopt it its an easy thing and only takes few seconds 👍

Funnily enough, that is exactly what pilots do leaving and aircraft AND frequently just walk away from the car without a glance.  The car will often be a wreck too.

Just checked the docs and mine is (at least was sold used to me as) an Excel, but doesn't say anything about add-ons.

It's got some extra chrome bits - Were those part of the Premium Pack?

Edit. Just looked at the screenshot of the autotrader advert and that says it has extra satnav and Convenience pack.

If the mirrors are auto folding, close the mirrors via the button - lock the car, unlock the car and the car and the mirror will open - they are then in auto mode

Premium pack - Auto folding mirrors, Sat nav, rear spoiler and pano roof*

*pano roof was an option of the premium pack

Happened again yesterday night around 11ish.

Conditions - car locked. Ignition off.

AC pump running. Unlocked the car - ign is off, Instrument cluster and centre screen is dark however, the heater panel is lit up !

Tried switching AC off from heater panel but no response from buttons.
Inserted key, switch ign on then off again.
AC pump stops running.

There you go, new info for you.

Anything in the car manual to explain why is that happening? If the car has cabin temperature pre set control or to cool off Battery? Otherwise sound strange. 👍

Vanilla, if it's not a preset condition, as Tony says check the manual, then it is likely to be a fault, probably a software glitch.

A visit to the dealer may be necessary.

Does make me wonder about the remote app possibilities, someone mentioned earlier.

Assuming your car is indeed capable it's not impossible that someone in another country* is doing preconditioning but the commands are getting to your car as well. (Or instead, in which case the someone else is wondering why the hell the preconditioning isn't working.)

* Given the timings it would likely be daytime/warm in their location, so Western US round to Asia/India perhaps.

Doesn’t sound like how the remote preconditioning works with my Yaris, when it’s activated it looks like the ignition is on with main screen on radio on and heating control panel on with the engine starting when it needs to. As soon as you unlock it switches everything off and you start the car as normal.

If it hasn’t got keyless start I don’t think it has the remote start option.

If in doubt, disconnect the Battery for 15 mins and let it reset

It may be related to the DCM issue with the TAS600 systems

On 8/25/2022 at 10:33 PM, Devon Aygo said:

With regards the new TAS600 Smart connect head units in some Yaris cross and Yaris Excel HB there are two issues:

  • The DCM600 ( a separate data communication module just for the TAS600 ) needs a software update to fix an issue where the DCM600 may not boot correctly, Toyota have pushed this however it has highlighted another issue, this issue only affects Aygo X, Yaris & Yaris X *
  • The DCM600 connects to the Vodaphone mobile data network and Vodaphone are having technical issues which means the DCM600 cannot always connect to the network, Toyota are working with Vodaphone to get this resolved. This issue can affect any model using the Smart connect head units such as Aygo X, Yaris, Yaris X, Corolla, C-HR...

* The DCM600 is separate from the DCM used to provide e-call SOS functions.
