mk 3 - same process but the set button is under the dash inline with the brake pedal

It's not a button but an option in the settings called "TPMS setting" where you have to hold the OK button for 3s. It's probably a mistranslation as it's actually a "TPMS reset".

It's a thing on some models - English manual/information

tyre warning, fully loaded car at 5am is not what you want to see is it. Culprit, outside temp 50f and the evening before it was low 70s deg plus standing in the sun. The temp drop is enough to trigger the warning light. The pressures are fine, light gone with the days sun.

Latest cars simply have too many safety systems that only make things complicated and take away driving pleasure from the overall experience. Just another reason to build your own ev conversion. 👌🤔

I’ve got a similar problem, tyre pressure warning light came on. I have added air to all tyres but can’t initialise the system. I go into settings and press the reset button. The tyre pressure symbol blinks three times and I then drive. So far two journeys of 45 minutes and 2 of about 1 hour.

should the light go out when initialised?

any other suggestions

Hmm that's weird - What does the tyre pressure display show? If it shows them all at the pressure you inflated them to, resetting the TPMS/TPWS system via the headunit and driving around for 20-odd minutes should clear it.

If they aren't showing the correct pressures, likely will need to get someone to re-learn them to the system again...

(The only reason you need to drive around is the TPMS sensors only ping the car if they sense continuous movement.)

Well mine the tyre warning light will go out after setting to the correct pressure and driving for just 500 yards or so.

You can adjust center display to show tyre pressure on all wheels at the same time the tyres with a red block are low plus you have a visually tyre pressure for each tyre.

Its somethink like 3 clicks down and two to the right on the left steering button cluster.

Some mark 4 Yaris and your display looks like mine.

I can only assume that I haven’t put enough air in my tyres, they weren’t cold when I did it before. It does seem that the PSI given seem low though, 32 for the front and 29 for the rear.

Will attempt tomorrow when they are cold.

Cowgirl, have faith.

On delivery my tyres were 0.7 bar over pressured.  I let the air out and then repressurised to the correct pressures.  My Yaris Cross no has 4 lovely orange wheels on the display and dire warnings.

I did the reset routine and then ran the car last night and today.  No change.

It is going in next week for a Post-PDI fix.

I will run the routine again, see if it works before next Wednesday.

Success, added air to tyres when they were cold, slightly over inflated but can live with that. Lights now gone out.

I'm pretty sure the reason is these newer tyre pressure sensors Toyota use go to sleep to save there internal Battery after a few minutes when they sense they have stopped moving.

Yes that's exactly it! I guess they have some sort of motion sensing so they turn off when stationary; Makes sense, and is probably why they're rated for ~10 years despite being powered by a tiny coin cell!

Hmm, I wonder if anyone makes ones that are powered by the same sort of mechanism you get in self-winding watches and similar kinetically charged devices; Wouldn't need a coin cell at all then!

Maybe Omega could supply them.

I have a 50 year old self winder that works, albeit with service every 5 years.

I dunno, these TPMS sensors are already expensive enough without needing to move the decimal point to the right again!!

Alternatively,a weekly check with an old fashioned pressure gauge could render these complicated, unreliable, and unnecessary TPMS redundant.

As I said in a previous post,if you kick the tyres and your foot bounces off, they're fine.😆

If you low by just one psi then it will work fine checking with a non digital display probably wont be accurate to one psi.

Until you pick up a nail and get a soft tyre on the motorway. Even a daily check won't save you from that.
