Can anyone confirm they actually rotate tyres?

Does it make that much difference?

Its nice to have a monitor to check my tyre pressure at all times. I can't be asked to get the pump out and check it every time.

Agreed! It's one of the things I love about the Yaris Mk4 - Doesn't just have a TPMS, but actually shows the pressure of each wheel! The system automatically recalibrates itself when the car is started too, so even if the wheels get swapped around it re-learns which sensor is on which wheel! So good!

Only downside is the system takes some driving to initialize so you can't just turn the car on and seen what the pressures are - Have to drive for maybe 5 mins or so for it to re-learn every time the car is started.

I never bothered in any of my cars - I know some people do to prevent uneven front-back wear, but I'm just content with replacing the front tyres slightly more often.

I know some people do it as they get one side of the tyre wearing more than the other and that helps balance that out, but to me that's an alignment/suspension problem that needs to be fixed...

That said, I don't know if my dealer does this as a matter of course, as I'm aware some garages just do it as part of the service, but knowing my dealer I highly doubt it as they tend to do the minimum required and that isn't on the job sheet...

Good choice 👍

These tyres are actually getting better and quieter with the time and when wearing down while other properties remain unchanged. Definitely one of the best tyres in their category and price. Regular pressure checks are vital for comfort and longevity. Their side walls are soft and look like under inflated most of the time therefore trust a good tyre pressure gauge not just by the look. 🛞👍

OK so thought i would update you guys

So i purchased the goodyear efficient grip performance 2 and the technician actullay said my current tyres are actually in good condition.

I thought they were gonna be awful comming from Japan but they have treat depth of at least 6mm all round.

They are also goodyear eagle F1 tyres so i dont know how good these particular ones are. The technician said i would be stupid to change them so i got refunded and will keep these until they wear out.

Dunno if he was biased, but he said the michelin tyres are the best by far in durability and performance.

Well, good for you he saved you some money but tyre tread depth it’s not the only factor for when tyres needs to be changed, I hope he had taken other factors too. Age, mileage, year of manufacturing, side walls conditions both inner and outer, cracks longitudinal and on the walls , bulges, cupping.

Michelin are one of the best tyres but there is no best tyre in all types and sizes therefore it’s highly dependable what size is yours, what type of tyres you have. Goodyear especially Efficient Grip performance 2 beats Michelin Primacy 4 or Energy E as more comfortable, quieter and with longer life span tyre in 205/55 16, and driving in rain or deep water at speeds with these tyres its safe and confidential.

Btw I am also about to replace my 2 years old egp2 tyres with new even though they had 4-5 mm tread depth left, they had traveled many miles in different seasons, they had lost some elasticity, the rubber has aged from the salt and cracks started to appear. In cold nights anything of 12C° and below set at correct pressure they are hard and bumpy, that actually is typical for all summer tyres even new ones. Here how they look ., they can last me a few more months and another 20k miles but I think they should go.
